Review

Meet the Matthews family. Cindy Lou is seven years old. Her brother, Craig, is 11. The twins, Marian and Mark, are in their first year at the University, and baby Johnny is born as the book begins.
Cindy Lou has many questions about what is happening in her family as everyone participates in priesthood ordinances and living the gospel. Her parents explain the concepts on her age and vocabulary level in this very interesting and readable story.
She learns about faith, repentance, forgiveness, prayer, Sabbath-day conduct, preparation of a talk, the form and language of prayer, missionary work and the importance of temple marriage. The priesthood ordinances of blessing a baby, receiving the Aaronic and Melchizedek Priesthood, and blessing the sick are explained, and Cindy Lou herself is baptized and confirmed. The story also describes Mark's departure for a mission, Marian's temple marriage, and instances of administering to the sick for serious illnesses, providing opportunities for parents to explain these events in depth to their children.
The vocabulary is simple enough for children from seven to eleven to read alone. The book is a useful supplement to family gospel learning activities and will serve as an effective aid to parents as they answer questions asked by their children.
The book is interesting for the entire family and will strengthen the understanding and testimony of all who read it. It's especially valuable for new convert children and families with Primary-age youth-they'll love it!

The Sad Day Cindy Lou had been naughty all day. It had started in the morning when she couldn't find her blue sweater to wear to school. She was mad because Mother didn't stop and help her find it, so she was almost late for school.
She had done badly in class, also. Her teacher asked her a very easy arithmetic question that she really knew, but she couldn't answer it. The boys laughed at her for making the silly mistake. Then at recess, she even had a fight with her best friend, Patty.
Cindy Lou was still cross when she got home from school. Mother asked her to clean her room but Cindy Lou didn't want to. She just sat and played with her doll. Mother got angry with her.
Then Mother asked her to tend Johnny. But Johnny was playing with his blocks so noisily that Cindy Lou couldn't hear her favorite television show. She shouted at him to be quiet. Johnny cried and cried. Mother came from the kitchen and said, "Cindy Lou, you just can't do anything right today. You're making everyone else sad. I think you better go to your room and stay there until Daddy comes home."
